Acoustic Ratings (NRC) How can Zintra’s NRC rating be increased? Zintra on Zintra Patterns 1” thickness adds to the acoustical rating of standard Zintra ½” Panels. Installing Zintra off the wall increases the acoustic value. Two to six inches off the wall increased Zintra to .80 and .90 NRC. Standoffs or blocking can be used to increase the distance from the wall. What does an “assumed NRC rating” mean? These assumed NRC ratings are for our Zintra products that are not directly adhered to the wall or ceiling such as Blades, Baffles and Clouds. This assumed value is not changed by spacing of the Baffles or Blades or height of the Clouds or Baffles. Applications Where would Zintra be used in a heath care facility? Zintra should be used on ceilings or as signage in health care facilities as Zintra does not hold up to harsh chemical cleanings. This means: Zintra Digital Print, Zintra Baffles, Zintra Clouds or Zintra Suspended Panels are all appropriate options for these environments. Can Zintra be used near light fixtures? Yes. Zintra is able to withstand exposure to a consistent temperature of 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Can Zintra Panels be suspended from the ceiling? Yes. Parallel to the floor for a dropped ceiling effect or vertically to act as room dividers. See the MDC installation guide on how to properly suspend Zintra ½” Panels from the ceiling substrate using L-brackets and aircraft wires for horizontal applications. For hanging panels vertically (perpendicular to the floor), grommets with aircraft wires or sliding track hardware is recommended. Can Zintra be used above a pool or in moist environments? Yes. As long as Zintra does not come within direct contact of water or be installed inside the “splash zone” it is safe to use. Zintra is made of 100% polyester fibers that do not absorb moisture. Polyester fiber demonstrated moisture absorption of less than 0.04% by weight when exposed to an environment over 120 degrees Fahrenheit at 90% humidity for 96 hours. If panels are used directly adhered to the wall- Liquid Nails has a mold resistant adhesive that is recommended. Care How should Zintra be cleaned? Zintra can be vacuumed or cleaned by blotting the stain with soap and water. For stubborn stains, use a polyester fabric cleaner. Try this cleaning method in an inconspicuous place prior to using. Stain resistant coating is also available on all Zintra products. Colors Are custom colors available? Yes. There are 28 Pre-Formulated colors available with a minimum order of 64 Panels (Zintra ½”) or 64 Rolls (Zintra 1/8”). Custom colors are available with a 200 Panel/ Roll minimum and colors must match a Pantone Color. If the specifier wants to use a standard color for Zintra Rolls 1/8” on Zintra Panels ½” or vice versa, what are the minimum requirements? 64 Panels/ Rolls. These classify as pre-formulated colors. Are there dye lot differences for Zintra? Yes, as with all fibers slight dye lot differences can occur from run to run. What is the lead time for ordering custom colored Zintra? How are they approved? 8-10 weeks plus production for custom colors. A fiber is produced from the mill and then sent to the customer (not a finished panel or sample). Once the fiber is approved the panels will begin production. Environmental How is Zintra made? Zintra is a color throughout - 100% polyester fibers and solution dyed. High melt fibers are mixed with low melt fibers and extruded. Thousands of pins are used to perforate the Zintra panel to give them acoustic capabilities. What is Zintra made of? 100% virgin polyester fiber with no added adhesives in the manufacturing of Zintra. Is Zintra recyclable? Yes. Zintra is fully recyclable at the end of its cycle. Zintra does not give off any VOCs. Does Zintra have its own stain protection option? Yes. We offer an environmentally friendly stain resistant coating. The Zintra treatment is a fluorocarbon, stain resistant, permanent water repellant treatment that is formaldehyde free, produces no VOCs, and uses only one-third of the chemicals used in other finishes. This treatment does not change the look or feel to the Zintra surface. General Installation Can you use Velcro on Zintra? We recommend screwing the Velcro or hook and loop to the back of the Zintra as tape is not guaranteed to hold. Alternatively, Zintra is easily installed onto a variety of surfaces using either mechanical (screws or Z-clips) or adhesives (wallcovering adhesive for rolls, silicone adhesive and Liquid Nails). Which method depends on what best suits your project and/or aesthetic. What is the recommended adhesive for Zintra Panels vs. Zintra Rolls? Liquid Nails 710 is recommended for panels and Roman PRO-880, 838 or Dynamite 7234 is best for rolls. Are there certain trims/ stand‐offs that are specific to Zintra? Yes. See below photo and note that these trims are sold separately in 9’-3” lengths. They come in either Clear Satin Anodized Aluminum (Silver), Black or White.
Can Zintra be cut/ fabricated by local contractors? Yes. Zintra is easy to fabricate using a table saw, CNC oscillating blade, utility knife or common woodworking tools. This is what makes Zintra ideal for areas with TV, outlets, lighting, HVAC, sprinklers and other cut-outs. Can Zintra be cut into using a router? We would not recommend this. Although, Zintra has a high melt point of 250 degrees Fahrenheit, a router blade may overheat and burn the Zintra. Can Zintra hold screws? Yes. Zintra holds a screw very well – this makes for easy installation of hardware or blocking to the Zintra. Can Zintra be installed as a room divider on a track system? Yes, we have an 8’ track system available for the panels and rolls or an alternative solution with the use of grommets/ extrusions to connect aircraft wires to the Zintra and suspend from the ceiling. Orders Is there a minimum for ordering Zintra? No. Uncut (4’x9’) Panels and (11 yd. x 4’) Rolls are stocked in the US and ship in 48 hours. Only custom colors require minimums. What is the warranty for Zintra products? Zintra has a 2 year warranty. What does “augmentation” mean? “Augmentation” means taking a standard design and changing the scale, layout and/ or size. Augmentations do not apply to standard panels or rolls.
